The Defense Ministry said the attack was deflected “in real time” and that there was no “harm or disruption” to its computer systems. However, security researchers at ClearSky, the international cybersecurity firm that first exposed the attack, said the North Korean hackers penetrated the computer systems and were likely to have stolen a large amount of classified data. Israeli officials fear the data could be shared with North Korea’s ally, Iran.

Global demand for oil to fall further than expected, says IEA
The oil watchdog wiped almost a quarter of a million barrels of oil a day (bpd) from its forecasts for next year after warning that the rising number of Covid-19 cases could mean a slower recovery for the global aviation industry and lower demand for transport fuels.
In its latest monthly report, the IEA cut its global oil demand forecasts, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, by 140,000 barrels of oil to 91.9m bpd in 2020. The forecast is more than 8m bpd lower than the global demand for oil last year.

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced France will boost its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean amid an escalating standoff between Greece and Turkey over oil and gas exploration in disputed waters.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday, Macron called the situation in the eastern Mediterranean "worrying", and urged Turkey to stop its "unilateral" prospecting and "allow a peaceful dialogue" between the neighbouring NATO members.
China increases military pressure on Taiwan: The view from Taipei
Taipei, Taiwan - Two Chinese jets briefly flew across the Taiwan Strait "median line" - the de facto border between China and Taiwan - on Monday morning in what has been a busy year in cross-Strait military exercises.
While the jets were signalling Beijing's displeasure with US Health Secretary Alex Azar's ongoing visit to Taipei, similar missions have entered Taiwanese airspace and waters at least 20 times this year, according to local media.

Argentina and Mexico will produce the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine for most of Latin America, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez after a meeting with company executives involved in the project.
An agreement signed between British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and the biotechnology company mAbxience of the INSUD Group includes transfer of technology to initially produce 150 million doses of the vaccine to supply all of Latin America with the exception of Brazil, according to the Argentine government.

Une argutie juridique liée à un défaut de rédaction vieux de cinq ans permet en effet à Washington de se targuer de sa qualité de « participant » bien que M. Trump ait décidé d’en sortir les Etats-Unis. Le raisonnement est paradoxal d’un point de vue logique et politiquement malhonnête. Mais juridiquement étayé.

“El Laboratorio AstraZeneca ha firmado un acuerdo con la fundación Slim para producir entre 150 y 250 millones de vacunas destinadas a toda Latinoamérica con excepción de Brasil. Estarán disponibles para el primer semestre de 2021 y será distribuida equitativamente entre los países que así lo demanden”, señaló Alberto Fernández que, acompañado por el ministro Ginés González García y por la Secretaria de Acceso a la Salud, Carla Vizzotti, abrió la conferencia de prensa en Olivos. Y continuó: “La producción latinoamericana estará a cargo de Argentina y de México y eso permitirá un acceso oportuno y suficiente de la vacuna a toda la región. Serán los puntos referenciales y me alegra que podamos traer una solución al continente. Es una linda noticia, un dato esperanzador”, dijo el mandatario. Argentina se encargará de la producción de la materia prima –de la sustancia activa–, mientras que México se encargará de envasar el producto y de completar el proceso de producción de la misma.

Evo Morales pidió aceptar el 18 de octubre como fecha para las elecciones
El expresidente de Bolivia, Evo Morales , (foto) le pidió a sus seguidores que acepten el 18 de octubre como fecha para las elecciones generales, en un intento de frenar las protestas y bloqueos contra el retraso de los comicios, pospuestos ya en dos ocasiones. Detuvieron en Ecuador al expresidente Abdalá Bucaram
En un operativo espectacular transmitido por la televisión de Ecuador el expresidente Abdalá Bucaram fue detenido en Guayaquil. La policía entró a la casa del exmandatario durante la madrugada y lo encontró en la cama con su esposa. El Ministerio Público informó que se lo investiga por presunta “delincuencia organizada” en relación a la venta de insumos médicos durante la pandemia. También estaría involucrado uno de sus hijos. Es el segundo arresto en tres meses para Bucaram que en 1997 fue destituido de la presidencia por la Asamblea. Para el sociólogo y catedrático del Universidad Central de Ecuador, David Chávez, el caso Bucaram destapa una lógica corrupta que reestableció el gobierno de Lenín Moreno . “El presidente necesitaba apoyo de grupos de poder y lo encontró repartiendo el Estado. Los Bucaram forman parte de esa estrategia”, sostuvo Chávez.

Seguidores de Evo Morales exigen una ley que adelante elecciones
La Paz. Organizaciones afines al ex presidente Evo Morales exigieron este miércoles al Congreso de Bolivia una ley en la cual se fijen las elecciones para el 11 de octubre, una semana antes de lo previsto, como condición para levantar los cortes de rutas.
La Central Obrera Boliviana y la Alianza de Sindicatos de Campesinos e Indígenas proponen que las elecciones sean el 11 de octubre, en vez del 18”, comentó el líder de entidad sindical, Carlos Huarachi.
