Details of China's national security law for Hong Kong unveiled
A controversial national security law imposed by China on Hong Kong has come into force, punishing crimes of secession, sedition and collusion with foreign forces with terms of up to life in prison.
Beijing says the law is necessary to deal with separatism and foreign interference, but critics fear the legislation, which was approved in record time and not made public until after it was passed on Tuesday, will outlaw dissent and destroy the autonomy promised when Hong Kong was returned from the United Kingdom to China in 1997.
Palestinian civil society rejects EU's conditional funding
Palestinian civil society organisations have formed a national campaign that rejects the European Union's conditional funding based its "anti-terror clause".
The stipulation, which was included in EU grant proposals late last year, identifies at least seven Palestinian political parties as "terrorist groups", and calls for Palestinian civil society organisations to vet individuals to ensure they are not affiliated with such parties.
Macron says new tactics 'shifted the dynamic' in Sahel fight
Leaders from five Sahelian countries and French President Emmanuel Macron have met in Mauritania's capital, Nouakchott, to discuss how to reduce attacks in a region plagued by escalating violence and a worsening humanitarian situation.
Macron said on Tuesday troops from his country and the G5 Sahel bloc of nations - Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger - were having military success against armed groups in the Sahel, a semi-arid region directly south of the Sahara desert in northwest and central Africa.
Iran's Zarif says ending arms ban 'inseparable' from nuclear deal
Iran has said the preservation of its nuclear accord with world powers depends on the scheduled end in October of a UN arms embargo as the United States seeks to extend it.
"The timetable for the removal of arms restrictions embodied in Resolution 2231 is an inseparable part of the hard-won compromise," Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session, referring to the resolution that blessed the 2015 deal signed to curb the Islamic Republic's nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.
Facebook bans hundreds of accounts tied to violent 'Boogaloos'
Facebook on Tuesday announced that it had banned a violent anti-government network loosely associated with the broader "Boogaloo" movement, a slang term supporters use to refer to a second US civil war or a collapse of civilisation.

Experts predict zero new infections next week as Beijing’s cases decrease
The number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Beijing went down to three on Tuesday, the lowest in the past 19 days, prompting experts to predict that the capital may report zero new confirmed cases in about one week.
Since the latest outbreak on June 11, Beijing reported a total of 328 COVID-19 patients and 26 asymptomatic infections under medical observation.

Huawei a target for US, UK after National Security Law for HK is enacted
The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Tuesday (US time) officially designated Huawei and ZTE as US' national security threats. Under this classification, US telecom operators are not allowed to use an $8.3 billion government subsidy program, known as the Universal Service Fund, to purchase, maintain or support any equipment or services provided by the two Chinese telecom giants.

Depuis la mi-février, la presse est devenue un sujet de friction entre les Etats-Unis et la Chine. Le 22 juin, le gouvernement américain a modifié le statut de quatre médias d’Etat chinois, accusés d’être des « organes de propagande » de Pékin et dont les bureaux aux Etats-Unis sont désormais considérés comme des « missions diplomatiques étrangères ». Ces organes de presse, dont la télévision publique CCTV et le tabloïd nationaliste Global Times, doivent désormais notifier au département d’Etat américain la liste de leur personnel et de leurs biens immobiliers. Cette mesure américaine s’ajoutait à une décision identique déjà prise en février contre cinq autres médias chinois.

Gertz: se cayó la "verdad histórica" sobre el caso Ayotzinapa
Ciudad de México- Se acabó la verdad histórica del caso Ayotzinapa, porque todos los elementos en los que estaba sustentada se han ido cayendo a través de los procedimientos que se iniciaron y han puesto en libertad a las personas que participaron, según las anteriores administraciones, afirmó Alejandro Gertz Manero, titular de la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR).
En entrevista con La Jornada, afirmó que ya se hizo una nueva reconstrucción de lo sucedido en septiembre de 2014 y se cuenta con nuevos elementos sobre lo que sucedió con los 43 estudiantes de la Escuela Normal Rural Raúl Isidro Burgos de Ayotzinapa, adónde los escondieron, quiénes los torturaron y lo que siguió con ellos.
La “verdad histórica” nunca se sostuvo
Desde sus primeras investigaciones sobre el caso Ayotzinapa, el Grupo Interdisciplinario de Expertos Independientes (GIEI) desestimó la llamada verdad histórica.
A lo largo de sus casi 15 meses de trabajo, este grupo –constituido mediante un convenio entre el gobierno mexicano y la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos– documentó una serie de evidencias que echaban abajo la versión oficial de la entonces Procuraduría General de la República (PGR), que apuntaba a la ejecución e incineración de 43 estudiantes de la Escuela Normal Rural Raúl Isidro Burgos en el basurero de Cocula, Guerrero.
