'It will be a disaster': Palestinians prepare for annexation

Palestinian farmers living in the occupied Jordan Valley say they are worried about what the future holds with Israel's impending annexation of the territory, which could begin as early as Wednesday.

Concerns abound the annexation will prevent them from accessing their land and they will be cut off from the rest of the West Bank, destroying their export business and only source of income.

The strategic, and fertile, Jordan Valley is known as the "breadbasket" for Palestinians, constituting half the total agricultural area providing food for Palestinians in the West Bank.

GLOBAL TIMES

China will not tolerate US meddling in domestic HK affairs ever again

The National Security Law for Hong Kong was passed by China's top legislature on Tuesday. Steps of revoking US preferential treatment to Hong Kong have started to be taken by the US as a response.

Defining China as its "competitor" since 2017, the US has spared no effort to crack down on China. The US has imposed sanctions on Hong Kong over the national security law. However, it's only a new excuse for the US to contain China.

The US moves jeopardize the already deteriorating China-US ties.

Hong Kong will no longer be base for US to infiltrate and interfere in China affairs with the national security law enacted. There will be fewer levers the US can use to contain China.

Vietnam is the one among the few. Washington will ramp up its effort to infiltrate and impact Hanoi and urge this Southeast Asian country to embrace Western values. Then, the US could use Vietnam as an important base to influence China.

The US may offer additional support to Taiwan's secessionist forces in the future, but be cautious not to violate China's red line

Indian ban on Chinese app will backfire

Analysts said that the Indian government's ban on 59 apps developed by Chinese companies will hurt India's technology and internet start-ups as they lose Chinese investment.

The ban targets apps ranging from browsers to e-commerce, including three Alibaba Group apps: UC Browser, UC News and video platform VMate. Club Factory, which claims to be India's third-largest e-commerce platform, was also banned. ByteDance's TikTok, for which India is the biggest overseas market, is among the banned apps

Using SWIFT settlements to threaten China will backfire

Russian media recently reported that the US may even roll out extreme financial blockades to hamstring China and Russia, which could mean excluding the two countries from the US dollar denominated international payment network or SWIFT, a drastic move that will bring huge destruction to the international financial system.

From restricting exports of US technological products to China, slapping punitive tariffs on Chinese imports, forcing US firms to leave China market, to cracking down on the world's top telecom equipment maker Huawei, the US has been tightening its economic and trade restrictions on China using all means at its disposal.

SWIFT was nominally a non-profit organization before the September 11 terror attacks in 2001. Its operation mechanism was then altered by the George W. Bush administration, which forcibly broke the global payment network's operating rights. Its safety, reliability, speed, standardization and automation were greatly damaged so that the network could become a US foreign policy tool, a feature which has since dominated the system's operation.

the US financial watchdogs can monitor the non-cash circulation of every cent.

Although America's superpower status will not be immediately at risk, the US dollar hegemony will collapse given that China is the second-largest economy, with huge dollar reserves and bonds.

The animosity held by the US cannot be overlooked. Amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, China's viable route for a stable growth is to continue promoting the development of the yuan, including the promotion of the digital yuan and the yuan-denominated transactions, and expanding the usage of the yuan in trade and investment.

Afghanistan : la Maison Blanche minore l’affaire des primes russes

Donald Trump nie avoir été informé d’une opération, prêtée à Moscou, visant à inciter des insurgés afghans à tuer des soldats américains

Gilles Paris y Jazques Follorou

China's Hong Kong security law sparks global outcry

When Germany takes over the rotating EU presidency, it will seek to tackle the long-stalled reform of EU asylum rules. The pressure to act is almost as great as the resistance to reform ideas.

Germany wants a fairer spread of asylum seekers across all EU members. The European Commission put a proposal forward in 2016 but it faced severe resistance from countries unwilling to take on migrants arriving in southern Europe — in particular from Eastern EU members Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
