Trump Suspends Visas Allowing Hundreds of Thousands of Foreigners to Work in the U.S.

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Monday temporarily suspended new work visas and barred hundreds of thousands of foreigners from seeking employment in the United States, part of a broad effort to limit the entry of immigrants into the country. The move is fiercely opposed by business leaders, who say it will block their ability to recruit critically needed workers from countries overseas.

White House scrambles to deny Trump trade adviser's claim that China deal is 'over'

The White House’s stance on China was thrown into confusion on Monday night after trade adviser Peter Navarro announced a trade deal between the two countries was “over”, only to be quickly contradicted by Donald Trump.

Navarro told Fox News the “turning point” came when the US learned about the coronavirus only after a Chinese delegation had left Washington following the signing of the phase one deal on 15 January.

But shortly after, the US president tweeted: “The China trade deal is fully intact. Hopefully they will continue to live up to the terms of the agreement!”

China launches final satellite in Beidou navigation system to rival GPS

China has launched the final satellite in its Beidou constellation that emulates the US Global Positioning System (GPS), marking a further step in the country’s advance as a major space power.

The launch of the satellite onboard a Long March-3 rocket was broadcast live from the satellite launch base of Xichang on Tuesday, deep in the mountains of southwestern China, shortly before 10am. About half an hour later, the satellite was deployed in orbit and extended its solar panels to provide its energy.

The third iteration of the Beidou Navigation Satellite System promises to provide global coverage for timing and navigation, offering an alternative to Russia’s GLONASS and the European Galileo systems, as well as America’s GPS.

A fact-finding mission to Libya has been established by the United Nations' top rights body after prosecutors from the International Criminal Court said that mass graves discovered recently may constitute war crimes.

Washington desperately wants to start trouble overseas for selfish interests

As tensions between China and India over border disputes remain, mainstream US media has revealed US eagerness to seize the opportunity to sow more discords between China and its neighboring countries. Brad Lendon, CNN.com International homepage editor, published on Saturday an article entitled "Why this Japan-China island dispute could be Asia's next military flashpoint," portraying the Beijing-Tokyo divergence over the Diaoyu Islands as a "military tinderbox waiting to explode."

The controversy over the Diaoyu Islands has been largely brought under control over the past few years. It did not turn into a major obstacle in ties between Beijing and Tokyo, and is far from being a tinderbox.

India retreats from deals with China: Global Times editorial

The Indian government on Sunday gave "complete freedom of action" to Indian troops deployed along the China-India Line of Actual Control. This means Indian commanders will not be restricted in using firearms.

If this new approach is implemented and Indian troops shoot Chinese soldiers in the first place in future encounters, then the China-India border dispute will turn into a military conflict. This is not what most Chinese and Indian people wish to see.

China is a highly industrialized country, while India is still in the primary stage of industrialization. Most of China's advanced weapons are manufactured domestically, but all of India's advanced weapons are imported.

Pompeo’s attack on UN Human Rights Council invokes loathing

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Saturday the resolution marked "a new low" which amounted to hypocrisy. He also declared in a statement that "if the Council were honest, it would recognize the strengths of American democracy and urge authoritarian regimes around the world to model American democracy and to hold their nations to the same high standards of accountability and transparency that we Americans apply to ourselves."

The Trump administration's ambiguous attitude on racism is in stark contrast to its unilateralism and bullyism. It is destroying the "liberal international order" established by the US after World War II. Trump recently has also attacked the International Criminal Court (ICC) in addition to WHO and the UN Human Rights Council,

Jackson, in office from 1829 to 1837, owned more than 500 slaves over his life and was a key figure in the forced relocation of nearly 100,000 Native Americans, otherwise known as the Trail of Tears.
